Over the past few years, our children have continued their studies at secondary level at Sherburn High School or Brayton High School. Parents are informed about high school open evenings for prospective families in the Autumn Term. Before making the transition, the Year 7 coordinator visits the school to chat to the children about transition and share key information with them. In July pupils have the opportunity to spend an induction day to meet other local pupils who will be making the transition with them.

Burton Salmon School is a community school and was built in 1896, providing education for every child in the area. There has always been a close association between our school and the local Parish Church of St Wilfrid’s in Monk Fryston.
We enjoy church services, celebrating key Christian festivals such as Easter and Christmas in church and welcome in members of the church community to our special ‘Open the Book’ assemblies.
The Church has a busy calendar with lots of services, coffee mornings and community events which are available to view on its website. They also produce a monthly magazine, the link to which is available below.
Open The Book Assemblies
We look forward to regular visits from the church’s “Open the Book” team, who really make the stories in the Bible come alive!
Once a month, we welcome into school a team of Church volunteers who run a programme called ‘Open the Book’. The volunteers retell bible stories, focusing on Christian values, through drama and singing. Each session, different pupils are selected to take on a role in the scene and dress up in simple costume, reading simple lines. The audience really do enjoy these stories which help to reinforce our teaching about Christian values.
We liaise with members of Burton Salmon Parish Council to discuss issues that affect our community.
